MAIN INDEX
Manor Park News Jan 2004:
Major improvements to Club facilities currently in hand are:
1. Groundsman’s store.
A more secure, metal container is being placed adjacent to the old 1930’s wooden hut.
2. Clubhouse improvements
Plans are well advanced for two specific improvements to the central building complex.
i) The indoor bowls changing facility
This development will double the changing room area, thus addressing the serious problem of overcrowding at peak times.
ii) Accommodation in the central social area
The plan is to construct a room adjacent to the squash viewing area. This will be furnished to provide members with quality space for relaxed social interaction, including the consumption of refreshments. It will have picture windows giving a view over the tennis courts to the Malvern Hills
The intention is that this room will be available at all times for such social activity, thus avoiding the clashes that currently occur for use of the main dining room and bar area. Organised meals for teams will, in the main, continue to be held in the main dining room
A secondary, but nonetheless important, objective of these Clubhouse improvements is to improve the external appearance of the complex, with, particularly, a more attractive roofline.
Summer 2005
Facility development
The building developments referred to above have been completed to general satisfaction and are proving their value. Improved arrangements for catering are also being put in place to further enhance social facilities for members.
The four outdoor acrylic courts are being resurfaced. For the longer term, possible developments under early discussion include a) an additional indoor tennis court and b) a sports hall to accommodate badminton and other sports.
